Puerto Rico Prison Outreach

My son Donny Salas, Adolph Rodriguez and myself visited some 7,000+ inmates in Puerto Rico. Joyce Meyer Ministries distributed a care packets containing a bar of soap, shampoo and a Christian book to everyone incarcerated on this Caribbean Island.
We distributed the gifts with love and a simple message, Jesus loves you and we do too. We were able to encourage the believers, pray for the needs of the inmates and preach the gospel.
A very special thanks to JMM for allowing us another GREAT opportunity.

Mission Completed

Glenn Hulsey and his team arrived with a goal of building a much needed bathroom for a church in Costa Rica, in just one week. Paul, Guy and Tim under Glenn's direction, built the walls, ceilings, laid tile and installed 2 toilets, 2 urinals and a sink. They also hung three doors and painted. Pastor Armando and the congregation were very pleased.
A special thanks to Glenn and Twin Rivers for making this happen!

September, '08

September has been a busy month for DSM. Cindy and I were able to attend the Twin River's Mission Conference in St. Louis. We had a great time and loved hanging out with old friends and making some new ones. Even though hurricane Ike dumped tons of rain cancelling the Sunday service.
The annual Victory Church golf tournament also was fun, once again seeing some old friends and sponsoring one of the holes.
Our 15Th. anniversary celebration was awesome, there was a good turn out with the best partners in the world. Cindy prepared some mouth watering Costa Rican dishes.
And finally we held our DSM's Board of Directors meeting, while we were in St. Louis. I thank God for the members and their wisdom. We all are looking forward to the next 15 years.

Rusty Domingue and Celebration Church

Rusty and his team arrived from Texas to conduct a three night, open tent revival/evangelistic outreach. Rusty preached three great messages with people responding by giving their hearts to Jesus.

During they day we held a Children's event, complete with balloons, games, prizes, skits, face paintings, hot dogs, pinats and of course the good news of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Angelo and his church were very happy, the Children were fed, the sick prayed for, the saints encouraged, souls won for the kingdom, Jesus lifted up and the gospel preached.

Chris Miller

This was Chris' 4th. time to work with us, he first came in '05. He arrived three weeks ago and wanted to help us in whatever way he could. We hit the road and drove to El Salvador, distributing Christian books and visiting prisons along the way. His last week was spent helping us host a team, were he preached, led and played music.

Chris is always a blessing and makes friends were ever he goes. We will miss him but know God has a plan for his life. A very special thanks to Staff Sargent Chris Miller.

Indiana Team

Scott and his team of 15 came from Indianapolis. Seven of which were Children from the ages of 6 to 13. We traveled to Limon and worked with the Victory Church, holding a Children's event were our young people ministered to the Children. We had games, gifts, face paintings, bracelets and of course the gospel message.

El Salvador Hears Good News

Chris Miller from St. Louis and myself left Costa Rica last Monday and drove to El Salvador. Our mission, distribute From The Hidden books and preach the gospel. The Lord has shown us favor and opened doors, we have been in His perfect timing and have had ALL of our needs provided. The coolest thing thus far happened at Jucuapa Prison. We were welcomed by a group of inmate/christians and invited to preach. The men were on their knees, crying out for more of God while the angles rejoiced.

Baptizing in the Caribbean

Three young women, Tiffany, Deanne and Karen all love God and want to serve and obey Him. They also wanted to be baptized in the ocean while on their mission's trip. With the help of Tim, Deanne and Karen's dad, we did just that.

This was symbolic of their old nature dying and being left in the sea as they went under, and a new person being raised up as they came out of the water. It was an honor and a privilege to baptist these next generation Christian leaders.

Mission Trips Aren't All Work

With a team of 11 from our home church Life Christian and our 4 interns, we were able to accomplish much. Although they worked hard, we did manage to find some time to have fun.

They all took a trip on the canopy zip line, some conquered their fears and all enjoyed their selves.

Nicaragua Hears Good News

With our 4 interns Cindy and I drove some 20 hours to northern Nicaragua. We found out that within the city of 1,200 people there were at least 80 people practicing witchcraft and offering animal sacrifices. The first night of a three night evangelistic outreach, a 17 year old intern prayed for a lady, she grabbed hold of both wrist and groaned, spit up, fell to the ground, contorted her body and appeared to be possessed.

Levi, Jeremy, Brittany and Tiffany continued to pray for her, wiping her face off, stroking her hair and loving her. She left the church at 2:00 a.m. The last night of the outreach she came forward and gave a testimoney that she was set free, completely free. We learned afterwards her husband had left her for another woman she got involved in witchcraft years ago.

As you can imagine we are so very pleased with these interns and if this is the next generation of Christians being raised we just might be able to fulfill the Great Commission.

May is the month for Birthdays

We started with our newest grandson Daniel Christian who turned 1 the 20th.
Then his daddy and my oldest son Dan's was the 23rd.
Cindy's was the 26th. and Dylon turned 6 the 28th.

We are very blessed to have so many family members celebrating another year.
I pray a special blessing over all of them, may the Lord keep them, bless them and provide for them.

Ronald Cambell Lewis

After watching our car for us as we parked on the streets of Limon, we paid Ronald his fees and then we gave him a New Testament. Ronald confided in us, he once was a deacon within the church, and remembers how sweet it was walking with Jesus. Circumstances had taken him down the wrong road and he was no longer in fellowship with the Lord.

We explained how God so loved him still and right on the street, he prayed and asked for forgiveness. Ronald later said, "You were sent by God." And asked if we would pray for him.

A very special thanks to all of our partners who do indeed send us with the good news. Together, we really are making a difference.

The Prisons of Panama

Cindy and I are in Panama City, and after three trips to the Justice Department, we were given permission to enter the prison system.

With almost 700 copies of From the Hidden by Theresa Garcia in hand, I was allowed to visit the 2 largest prisons in Panama, La Joya and La Joyita. Working with inmate/pastors each of the 20 cell blocks recieved copies. They were very well received and many people remembered us from years earlier.

My prayers of, "Here am I, send me" were fulfilled when I was allowed to preach in both prisons. I was thrilled to bring good news and humbled when they gave me an offering. The inmates of cell block #6 have asked for prayer, would you pray for them?

Worldwide Missions Evangelism Conference

Cindy & I were invited to attend the WME Conference in Kansas. Some of the guests speakers were Larry Jones from Feed the Children, Matthew Barnett of the Los Angeles Dream Center and author Tommy Tenny.

We had a GREAT time and were encouraged to hear all the incredible things that are going on throughout the world. We believe God's heartbeat is for souls and we have renewed our pray, "Here I Am, Send Me!"

With Cindy still in Kansas, I have traveled to St. Louis to take care of some of the administrative business of the ministry, we both plan to be back in Costa Rica this Friday (May 9th.). and then were off to Panama.

Youth Leadership Conference

The Youth Leadership Conference ended today (Saturday) and was a huge success. Pastors Ron, Christy, Sam & Jenn discovered just how impacting it was when they heard the testimonies.
Some leaders had planned to quit, while others were discouraged and felt like failures. All left with a new zeal and excitement about youth ministry.

Discover Life Church, Brings Good News To Costa Rica

Jeff, Tracy and their team of 22 arrived from Florida to advance the Kingdom of God.
They visited those in the hospital, fed the hungry, preached the gospel, prayed for the sick, mixed concrete and painted a local church.

The people of Costa Rica were blessed, encouraged, and given hope through their efforts. However, the most exciting part were those whose name were written in the Lamb's Book of Life.

Women's Encounter

Pastors Melvin & Vangie, have been married and in the ministry for 55 years. They arrived from Virginia to encourage the local church and to hold a Women's Encounter here in Costa Rica.

Everyone loved them and one woman wrote, "Every word from your mouth was from the heart of our Lord."

A very special thanks to a wondeful, godly couple.
